An assignment to create a small-scale decoration or furniture piece that was in some way inspired by the outdoors. This assignment was an introduction to the 3D printers, laser cutters, and acrylic we have at our disposal.
I decided acrylic could work well as water and experimented with some of its optical properties, creating a 3D layered image by stacking engraved sheets. At first, the etching wasn't visible enough, so I tried darkening them with a Sharpie. Thankfully, after accidentally smudging a portion and trying to clean it, I realized the engraved area was left dark. So, instead of drawing the engravings carefully, I could scribble over the engravings and then lightly wipe off the acrylic right after, leaving the engravings and nothing else darkened.
